How long does a full Pax charge last?

Think of the LED on PAX as its health meter. If your PAX LED is blinking green when placed on the charging dock, it may be an indication that some moisture is trapped in the internal components of your PAX. Sometimes a bit too much isopropyl alcohol or mouthpiece lubricant used during cleaning can cause this, so we always advise that a little goes a long way!

Try this common trick for electronic devices when exposed to moisture: put your PAX in a sealed container of dry white rice for at least 24 hours to absorb any moisture trapped inside PAX. Leave the oven lid and mouthpiece on the device. The rice serves as a natural desiccant and should draw the moisture out.

If this remedy proves unsuccessful, or if your PAX LED is showing any other irregular indications while charging, please send the PAX Pros a Support Request for technical help.

My PAX LED does not light up on the charger. +

  • First double-check to see that the cable is plugged in properly to the charge platform and outlet.
  • If you have not already, please ensure your device is making a good connection by lightly cleaning the contacts on the device and prongs on the charging base.
  • We recommend using a Q-tip dipped in isopropyl alcohol to clean these areas.
  • Wiggle PAX around a bit on the charger to see if it makes a connection, or try placing it on the platform facing the other way.
  • Also, try charging the device after you've removed the mouthpiece.
  • Test another PAX charger if you have one available.

If you continue to have problems charging your PAX, please send the PAX Pros a Support Request.

My PAX makes a rattling noise when I shake it. Is that normal? +

There are two components in PAX that will make a bit of noise.

The mouthpiece has a small, sliding ring on the metal stem. This piece needs to freely shake back and forth for the mouthpiece to open and close properly - keep this clean to prevent your mouthpiece from getting jammed with build-up.

The other part you'll hear is the internal accelerometer, a loose ball bearing with sensors around it that detects the motion of PAX. When you shake the device to check the battery level, you'll hear the accelerometer making a slight clicking noise.

Will my PAX work in extremely cold weather conditions? +

PAX will work in cold weather conditions above freezing temperatures. Keep PAX warm and dry when out and about in cold weather. Your pocket is a great place for PAX. If your PAX has been exposed to extremely cold temperatures for an extended time, try this:

  • Warm it up in your hands before attempting to turn it on.

  • If PAX appears doesn’t turn on immediately, place your device on the charger for a couple minutes and try again.

What kind of battery does PAX use? What is the capacity? +

PAX has an internal lithium-ion battery with a 2600 mAh capacity.

Please Note: Portable electronics containing Lithium Ion batteries present rare, but potentially serious safety hazards, especially under hot or cold conditions.Charging of the PAX should only be performed at temperatures between 41°F and 113°F (5°C and 45°C).To assure personal and property safety, never charge your PAX device below 41°F (5°C) or above 113°F (45°C).

How long will my PAX take to charge and how long will on charge last? +

PAX is fully charged in two hours. When placed on the charging platform, the PAX LED will shine orange. At 80% battery charge (around 90 min) the LED will shine a steady green. Most PAXers report an average of five oven-loads before needing to recharge their PAX battery. To ensure you always have 100% charge before walking out the door, charge PAX for 2 hours.

Will I damage my PAX by overcharging? +

PAX has smart-charge technology: the efficiency of the battery is managed by the intelligence of the device. PAX can be charged at any state: full, empty, or in between, and cannot be overcharged. Keep your device docked and know PAX is ready whenever you are.

What voltage does my PAX battery need for charging? +

PAX devices manufactured in 2012 accepts 100-120 volts. Devices manufactured from 2013 onward come with chargers that accept 100-240, but we cannot confirm voltage for individual chargers based on the PAX itself. Please consult the label on the charger to see which kind of charger you have.

Can PAX be charged by USB? +

USB cannot effectively charge PAX. PAX is a high-power device that requires more charging voltage and power than USB can supply.

What should I know about storing PAX for an extended period of time? +

Prolonged storage of PAX with an empty or low battery may cause permanent depletion of the battery. If you plan to store or not use your PAX for an extended period of time, you can leave it charging on the dock or make sure it’s stored in a cool, dry place with a fully charged battery.

What should I know about battery degradation? +

All batteries degrade over time. As a consumable component in PAX, the Limited 10 Year Warranty does not apply to normal performance degradation of batteries. Fear not, PAX has a plan!

PAX’s Battery Service is arranged through and approved by our knowledgeable Tech and Support team, the PAX Pro’s. If it is determined that normal battery degradation is present and that there are no other warrantable issues with the device, PAX offers, at its discretion, a new device at a discounted price.

Please know, PAX is not eligible for PAX’s Battery Service if the device is damaged as a result of an accident and/or negligent care. Devices with indications of disassembly or unauthorized modifications will not be serviced.
