Live Your #PAXlife: Chris Bernard
"Live Your #PAXlife" is a monthly feature that showcases every day PAX fans. Take a peek into what living the #PAXlife means to Chris Bernard.
Chris hails from the wonderful state of New Hampshire, and is the owner and founder of Get Outside NH. The motto Live Free or Die is one that he takes to heart. Chris spends most of his time adventuring with his four-legged companion, Jag. It doesn’t matter if it's hiking, biking, kayaking or swimming down a windy river; they are living life to the fullest.
Here is a glimpse into Chris and Jag's day in the #PAXlife.
What should everyone try at least once in their life?
I traveled around the world for a few years after High School. I grew a great appreciation for different cultures and people. Going so many places helped mold me into the person I am today. One of my favorite trips was to Ireland. Standing on the edge of the Cliffs of Moher changed my life. It showed me how small I really was and how little my problems really were.
What is on your bucket list?
A trip to Australia and New Zealand. These are two of the most beautiful places in the world. A few months ago I saw a picture of a PAX 2 being held up in New Zealand and at that moment I knew I had to be there. I knew I had to stand in that beautiful place and hike those rolling hills.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
If you compare where you are and where you want to be you'll get nowhere. Life is a wonderful journey, you can’t just want, you have to go do. We can’t be afraid to try new things and experience new challenges.
What items in your closet do you wear the most?
My boots, button-down, and khakis.
What is on your bookshelf?
Hiking New Hampshire by Larry Pletcher
AMC White Mountain Guide by Appalachian Mountain Club
48 Laws of Power by Robert Green
Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
What do you carry in your pocket daily?
My phone, knife, paracord keychain, and my PAX!
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I don't mind a good chick flick, but don’t tell anyone. Also, I almost always carry my PAX with me because you never know what kind of adventures will pop up at any moment!
Do you have any quotes to live by?
"Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more." - H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
What makes you happiest?
Enjoying my PAX outside while hiking with Jag. Jag has been traveling and adventuring with me for 8 years now. He has climbed the highest peaks in the Northeast and swam in the deep water of the Atlantic Ocean. Most people walk their dogs, but I like to think that he walks me. I just follow.
